The Apple ID you entered couldn't be found or your password was incorrect.

Why can’t I log into my itunes account with my id and password?

I can log in with my password on my iphone to download apps no problem, but when itunes asks me to insert my details I get a message saying "The Apple ID you entered couldn't be found or your password was incorrect."

I have reset the password twice, however I can still not log into the itunes account.

Clearly I have the right Apple ID if the email is coming directly to my account for me to reset. What could be going wrong?

This fix was posted by the user designbyday in another thread. Worked fine for me 🙂

This is desigbyday's fix:

"Try the following - it worked for me..

Open iTunes. Clicked on Preferences and under Parental Controls disable access to the iTunes Store. Then checked the box to allow access to iTunes U.

Then try loading the store this time, it should send you directly to iTunes U with no problem.

Then go back into Preferences and enable access to everything and try
reloading the store. Good Luck

Now I have access.

I soved my own problem with a workaround.

I was trying to turn on Genuis which required my details and were failing.

So what i did was went to the itunes store and logged in there first - success!
then i went to genius and "Turned Genuis on" and entered my password again. - Success!

If apple are reading this, they might want to log this as a bug? perhaps the genius should tell users to log into their itunes store account first.

I have just encountered the exact same problem. I've been using iTunes for years without any problems and now I can't seem to log in at all. Initially I encountered the problem when trying to download some music - it let me log in and start downloading, but when the download finished the music wasn't there. I tried the "check for available downloads" in the "store" menu and it asked me to log in. When I tried I got the same error message "The Apple ID you entered..." I have restarted the computer, repaired permissions, logged out of iTunes and still the problem persists. Help!

This is still an issue and very counter-intuitive for what is supposed to be the most user friendly OS. I was trying to use Genius on my new iMac and initially it gave me the error "this person record requires harvesting" (what the hay is that supposed to mean to a user?). Then after I figured that one out (needed to add more info at myinfo.apple.com) I received this error.

I've been able to work around it again thanks to the information here but the root problem should really be fixed so people are directed to the correct places without having to search the internet for answers.
