How to transfer a Win7 Bootcamp partition from a Leopard Mac to a SL Mac

I have a Win7 bootcamp partition installed on my Leopard MBP. My IT dept is upgrading my machine to Snow Leopard and I'm wondering how to best handle the upgrade. I'd like to go from BC 2.0 to 3.1 if possible, but without reinstalling Win7. Any options or am I out of luck?

Hi Cibby,

upgrading a Mac OSX from Leopard to Snow Leopard on the same machine where your BootCamp Windows is should not affect your BC Windows.

However it is always a good idea to make/have a backup of both OSX and Windows prior to upgrading an Operating System.

For OSX there are several way (using OSX Time Machine or cloning apps like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner).
For your BC Windows have a look at WinClone http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/

After the successful installation of Snow Leopard you can consider to upgrade the BootCamp Drivers from within Windows using the OSX Snow Leopard DVD to install the 3.0 driver version and then the download 3.1 driver upgrade.

All this can be done without reinstallation of WIndows 7

Regards

Stefan
