Problems with rex2 files & EXS in 9.1.1

Anyone else having any issues with (Recycle) rex2 files in the EXS in Logic 9?

Everything works as expected when importing rex2 files, creating an EXS instrument, & saving it, but as soon as I quit & re-load a song, it seems to loose the rex2 files & only load the associated audio file (without the chops).

The rex2 files can be re-loaded into the instrument, but it's tedious if you've got lots of rex2 EXS's, & annoying if you've fine tuned some of the start times in the sample editor.

When you load a REX file, EXS converts it to an EXS instrument and creates a midi region in the Logic Arrange named to the EXS instrument. This midi region contains the midi slices and it can not be saved inside EXS. You can save it in the Logic project or select it and export as Standard Midi File (SMF).
It is a matter of organization if you want just to convert your Rex files and organize their SMF regions. For example you can create a folder named "My Rex Midi" and place in some conformable place - dock, desktop even Logic Help Menu ( you need to modify a help text file in the Logic resources to show it there ).
The idea is when load a certain EXS (previously rex converted instrument) to drag & drop its corresponding midi file from "My Rex Midi" folder to the Arrange EXS track. The "My Rex Midi" can contain subfolders according your Rex file tree organization. It is some kind of workaround if you remember the old Stylus way.

Actually, the MIDI data is stored inside EXS converted instruments irc, and you can recreate the MIDI region at any time - see the manual:

"You can generate new MIDI regions at any time from the imported EXS instrument (see “Generating a MIDI Region from a ReCycle Instrument”), so feel free to modify or delete the region."

The MIDI data is stored in the EXS as metadata, and is always there, so you don't need to store MIDI regions independently. You just use the command to create a MIDI region on the arrange page when you want to use the MIDI data from that imported Recycle EXS instrument.

This is what I understood too. I've always stored my rex2 files in the associated Project folder (under samples).

The problem I'm having is that after quitting a song, the EXS is not remembering the slices, & is consequently loading the whole file for each zone in the EXS. Therefore the corresponding midi regions are triggering the beginning of the file for each & every midi note (as opposed to the correct slices).

This is occurring with both newly created rex2 EXS instruments, & legacy ones (which load fine in Logic 8).
