SONY DCR DVD108 CAMCORDER WONT IMPORT TO iMOVIE, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Can someone please help me with step by step instructions on how to import my mini dvd's to imovie. I know sony doesn't have any drivers for OS X 10.6, is there any other way I can do this without having to buy an external dvd drive, or importing it to a PC then transferring it??
