iPod classic and Bluetooth adaptor

I have an 80gb iPod classic. I just purchased a motorokr s9-HD Bluetooth headset, and it came with a motorola d670 Bluetooth adaptor. Everything connects, but when the iPod foes to sleep, the adaptor turns it back on, leaving it running non-stop. This happens if I turn on the sleep timer or let the iPod turn off on it's own. Anybody know how to change this?
