If the information about your OS version is correct, you need to update. The iPad requires 10.5.8 or later.

Cool. The iPad also requires iTunes 9.1. Have you updated? Run Software Update from the Apple menu and install all updates. If that doesn't work, look here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207

iTunes 9.1 hangs whenever the iPad is connected. I have re-installed iTunes, reset the iPad, restarted the Mac, etc. Nothing resolves the problem.

Apps won't sync. When I click "Sync Apps" itunes freezes up. Photos, Movies, Music sync fine. What gives?

If you just check the sync app box and let it sit for a minute or two then it works!

Interesting that you are seeing that too... it takes 2 full minutes for my iPad to start to sync, or to let me OK an error if there's not enough room. See post in this forum under "iPad very slow to start or cancel sync".

I say it's USB related.

I saw disk errors and interrupted sync'ing when I added or removed USB devices during am iPad sync. At first I thought the problem was that I removed my iPhone while the iPad was syncing. That caused the first disk error msg. The second time I saw this msg was when I restarted the sync then started eyeTV and it accessed its USB tuner. So, I'm guessing a USB device mgmt bug is present.

And, if USB is at all sketchy, I'd avoid sync'ing through a hub - connect direct to system USB port.

I wanted to offer a bug report but don't see where these are initiated. I should know that by now.

according to the user pdf guide...
iPad may not charge when connected to the USB port on an older Mac, a PC,
a keyboard, or to a USB hub.

but i have brand new PC!! and it charges my iphone and any other device, except the ipad

so according to the user guide if your PC is up to date it should be able to charge it from USB

It seems to be spelled out pretty clearly.

I did delete the photos and empty the trash, but the photo sync still brought up the message "The iPad "iPad" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." The deleted photos are gone from the iPad (there were deleted on the last successful sync before I got that error), but there still exists "ghosts" in the Faces tab -- blank spots, but when I touch there, the deleted face name appears on a blank screen.

Yep, thanks guys. My syncing issue was with iPhoto as well. I first imported ALL photos from my iPad and had it delete them afterwards; then cleaned up my iPhoto library and emptied its trash. Once done, iTunes and iPad sync was flawless.
