Dvorak

Hi,

Can someone confirm or deny whether:

1) the iPad supports a Dvorak keyboard layout in software
2) you can use a qwerty bluetooth keyboard in Dvorak mode
2) you can use the "keyboard dock" in Dvorak mode

Thanks

As a professional typographer, designer, and senior lecturer and briefly head of the largest art & design university department in the UK ... I have been a Dvorak user since the mid 'eighties - all the keyboards in any house or office I've ever worked in have become Dvorak (usually within the space of my first free hour).
I will admit to keeping one old keyboard with qwerty in a cupboard - for hacking first time interfaces or operating systems until they run nice through Dvorak ... and when my kids occasionally find a game hard coded to qwerty.

I partly discovered Dvorak through the options and historical information about Dvorak layout that came with early PC versions of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and then when I discoverd professional colleagues who had suffered RSI - I once taught alongside an ex comp and an ex audio typist who were early recognised sufferers and both had to change careers because of it ... but was always impressed with Steve Wozniak's endorsement of the DV layout - which he apparently learned during a flight to Japan for Apple - and why Apple seemed to be such a consistently solid provider for the option in the past.
Been using it ever since ...

Both my kids (now 5 and 11) grew up in a house where all the keyboards are Dvorak on all the devices - phones, pads and computers - they have had no problem when they eventually got to reception, nursery and school problem and been confronted by Qwerty - in fact they've both been recognised as class leaders in keyboard based literacy, numeracy and coding as they progressed ...

I didn't think anyone even knew what the Dvorak keyboard was anymore, much less anyone using it.

I touch type Dvorak, as do many of the fastest typists in the world. If I can't use at least a hardware Dvorak keyboard then the iPad is useless to me.

Then wait for some Windows box tablet thingy to sometime, maybe, possibly come out.
