Chagning location of Apps to External Hard Drive

Is there a way to change the location of the Apps location to an external hard drive?

I have moved my iTunes library to an external hard drive but noticed the Apps are still located in my drive of my iMac.

Is there a way to change the location whenever I purchase apps as well as change my current location where my apps are currently located?
