In iPad settings/General/Bluetooth turn on. Now hold the power button on your keyboard for more the 5 seconds until the green light blinks. Now on the iPad press the entry under devices. (still in the settings/general/bluetooth screen).
The iPad should then give you a code to enter on the keyboard. Enter the code and press return. The keyboard should connect.
When using the bluetooth keyboard, the virtual keyboard on the iPad will not appear. I'm still playing with it to see if a really want to run it like this.
Yes it disappears when the keyboard syncs with the iPad. Unfortunately seems like you can't run both at the same time and it seems you need to turn one off to get the other to work. Must say doesn't seem like something you want to do on the fly.
