iBooks crash?

I downloaded iBooks about three times now. The first time and second times that I opened it I was able to dowload books and start reading them. When I tried the last time to do that, it started crashing. When I open iBooks, I can see my virtual bookshelf but only for about a second then it crashes and the iPad reverts to its home screen. I have tried syncing again as well as deleting and reinstalling iBooks but nothing works.
I have had no other problems with the iPad at all. I can even type on it pretty well and am quickly getting faster at that.
Any suggestions?

Apple doesnt even bother about its customers.i have an iphone and an ipad. There are certain long term issues which are not sorted out even after several useless updates..
1)iBooks crashing
2)automatic bluetooth and wifi switch on after 11.0 update. even after 11.01,11.02 apple is not able to sort it out. im laughing at the engineers working der ..1.9gb+247mb+247mb ..still not able to rectify it. die everyone .android can solve these bugs with just 50mb update.
3)Setting a ringtone in apple is considered crime.
3)Never been able to download data >100mb with LTE and we cant even select the quality of video playing in youtube.I dunno whats wrong with apple.nowadays 4G is becoming faster than home networks and i dunno what bothers apple. On asking the reason for this to apple customer care executive he said "for download stability". 😝 seriously ?.if apple cares about it ,they shud av added an option to enable 4g data download or not and could even give a warning before downloading in 4G. apple must have been bribed by ATT,T mobile,Vodafone and Verizon like networks

ANDROID IS 1000TIMES BETTER THAN APPLE . APPLE IS JUST CHEATING WITH ITS BEAUTIFUL INTERFACE

Hello all,

I would like to find out more about this. After iBooks crashes, connect the iPad to your computer and let it sync. Then look here:

Mac users:
/Users/<user name>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<device name>

Windows XP users:
\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\Crash Reporter\Mobile Device\<device name>

Windows Vista and 7 users:
\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\Mobile Device\<device name>

Email the most recent iBooks crash log file from there. Please also explain what conditions result in the crash. If the issue only occurs with specific content, and your license for the content allows, please also include an example ePub file.

Thanks,
Roy

I recently downloaded a summary of a book and then purchased the book. When I opened the purchased book it was the sample of the book again and not the full version. I was on with support for an hour and cannot delete the sample book from the IBooks library. Suggestion to reset everything but I decided against it as I do not want to have to set up everything again. I will wait until the IBooks store or the application is more stable before I use this again.

Hi I had an issue where the books dissapeared or Ibooks would terminate. The list of books would work, but when the bookshelf view was opened it crashed or was empty.

It turned out that one ( only one) of the books I had, it did not like and crashed the whole thing out. I deleted all the books and re added them one by one till I found the culprit. Deleted that book from itunes and re loaded it and all was fine.

I appears that the newer Ibooks is less error tollerent or the new itunes is not copying across properly. I suspect it had to do with the book cover image as the list worked but the book shelf with images did not.

When I deleted the books, the bookshelf still showed them as being there, without covers. Had to delete from Ipad as well as Itunes.

Not really sure what was going on, but after I deleted all, replaced cover on suspect epub and reloaded it all worked again.

Strange thing was, when I completely deleted Ibooks & all its data, when I reloaded and re added books, all the bookmarks were still there. They must be stored somewhere else.

They fixed somethings but broke others. If you have not updated, dont just yet.

I have the same issue. Crashes of iBooks at startup or while scrolling through the shelf. App closes itselve.
After reducing the database and loading different sets of books I have found out that there was one epub file which is causing the crash. The file is readable in Adobe Digital Editions but is causing a crash in iBooks.

@RoyB
I have sent you the crash logs as well as the epub file which is causing the crash.

Now the proud owner of an iPad, I was looking forward to reading and studying my library of PDF notes and textbooks using iBooks.

However, I very rapidly discovered an easy way to incapacitate iBooks completely, so that it needs to be deleted from iTunes / iPad then downloaded and re-installed.

If one starts listening to music with the iPod app, the open a PDF, iBooks will crash back to the home screen with the music playing all the while in the background. The iPad will happily run everything else, be revisiting iBooks any more will have it simply crash back to the home screen.

Rebooting the iPad provides no solution, only uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I've read the PDF for hours without music, so the file itself is not a problem. It's the concatenation of free PDF chapters ( http://www.ophthobook.com/) that ends up being about 21MB in size.

I have a desperate work-around in case I accidentally have the iPod app running when I open iBooks: the uninstall and reinstall rigmarole. However, I very much wish that iBooks was a more stable app.

This is an interaction of Apple's iPad hardware, iPod app, and iBooks app with a standard PDF file so it's not as though it's an unusual test case. I'm surprised it seems to be so buggy.
