Can I "Unregister" my iPad?

Question

Can I "Unregister" my iPad?

Can I "unregister" the iPad I purchased today, and then "reregister" it in my wife's name? My wife and I each have our own macs, and I plugged our new iPad into my mac when we got it home from the store. Can I just plug it into her mac and then will it automatically "re-register" so that it is synced with her mac rather than mine?

Sorry, no. Once it's registered in one name... that's it. The day you register the product is the day the warranty begins.

Ahhhhhh. Well, that's what I thought, but I was hoping for a different answer. It's OK though ... we have another one on order when the 3g model comes out. She'll just take that one as hers. I'm OK with that.

Yes, you should be able to change the iTunes library it is synced to.

If you mean the name Apple has down for ownership of the device-probably not, really does not matter.

You can sync it with her mac without any issues obviously anything you synced over from your computer would be lost but you can sync it over fine.
Also you should be able to register it to her account too and if it shows up in your name in iTunes you can change that name too.

Well, perhaps there is hope to do this after all! To Sync it with her mac, would I just plug the USB cable into her mac and her iTunes? Do I sync it through the iPad, or do I go to preferences on her mac and sync through MobileMe?

You can setup her MobileMe account on the iphone to sync her contacts,calendars and such. For any music, videos, apps and etc she would need to plug it into her computer and select what she wants in iTunes to sync.

Also to register the product in her name go to: https://register.apple.com/
Sign in with her account and fill in the serial number and other info.
