After upgrading to 10.6.3 TM backing up to a 500GB TC attempted to perform a backup verification. However, as the verification proceeded i noticed that the disk availability on my main Macbook hard disk was being reduced 20GB from 26 to 7 GB remaining. I chose skip verification in the pull down menu, but since then the backups always seem to start and then stop before completion.

Does anyone have experience with this?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.3), using Windows XP via VM Fusion, 500GB TC

    That's odd.

First, re-select your TM drive via TM Preferences (select "none," then your drive), and turn TM Off.

Then, repair your backups, per #A5 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

Also, from a Finder window, select +Go > Go to Folder+ from the menubar and type /Volumes in the prompt.

That should produce a list of all the disks/partitions on or attached to your Mac. They should all be Aliases, of either zero or 4 KB. If anything isn't, report back it's name (likely the same as your TM drive) and size.
