Please Wait Updating Library

I had the same thing happen to me when using the sync all photos option (12000 in all). My work around was to use the other option and sync photo albums individually a few at a time. Mine are organized by year so I synced a few years at a time and after each sync I opened the photo app to make sure the update worked and it did. Just took a few syncs but worked fine to get entire library on the iPad. Maybe the sync all photos option has a problem for some of us.

The iPod Photo Cache is located in the iPhoto Library which is located in the Users/username/Pictures folder. Right mouse click on the iPhoto Library and then click on show package contents. You'll see the iPod Photo Cache folder which can be deleted. The next time you sync it will re-optimize your photos.

I've deducted that the problem exists somewhere in the Events. I can sync all 32,000 of my photos if I put them in a folder/album, but I cannot do this automatically. I can also sync all the faces. I have over 800 events, and I can a little at a time, sync a few events without it crashing. Mind you, all the photos are already on the iPad, but the "Event Data" isn't. I'm still investigating this with fervor 🙂

I found an interesting thing about the iPad "Crashing" to the Apple Logo with an off-centered rotating bar - it is, in fact, not crashed. If you keep the iPad connected to the computer, you can click "Sync" or "Apply" and recover the iPad without doing the 5 minute long hard reset. I am still looking at Events as the troublemaker, but I can't seem to pinpoint what is happening. It doesn't seem to be an "Event Limit" as I was able to sync 407 events fine, 417 then a crash, then 407 events again with a crash.

I can sync the last 12 months of events just fine, and a handful of others that I selected.

As far as this all goes, I think it's something deep within the code that we won't be able to fix with workarounds. I've sent a bug report to Apple, and the ball seems to now be in their court.

I'm having the same issue. Every time I sync or add an image to the photo library, I have the dreaded "Please Wait Updating Library" and then it throws me back to the home screen.

I can access my photos from other areas (i.e. to change the lock screen or wallpaper), but not the Photo app.

If it were a software issue, I would think it would be more widespread. Could it be hardware? I'm tempted to bring it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store.

I am having the same problem. I have 20Gb of photos on here and it has been working fine, then all of a sudden it stopped working and just says "Please Wait Updating Library...".

This is now happening to me, but it started after I used the Filterstorm app to edit a photo and save it to my photo library.

I have the same problem with a 26.2GB library.

Can a Apple support employee please respond and tell when the problem will be resolved? I assume the Apple Discussion forum is not for keeping users busy with responding to each other messages and trying to help with finding solutions. But also for Apple to quickly respond to users questions and/or needed fixes?

Highly unlikely to get an Apple employee to respond on the user forums. For help from Apple, go directly to their help center, not these user forums. Sometimes that's just the easiest way to get your problem resolved... Sometimes.
