The time displayed at the top of the screen sometimes loses hours of time requiring me to reset the time in the general settings. Has anyone else seen this problem? Can an app modify the system time? Also, I didn't see an option to set the time automatically using the network time protocol.
I haven't had any problems like that and I don't think your Pad should be losing time. I suspect you could have a defective unit. If it's a couple hours behind, like if you had the wrong time zone set up, it should at least be consistently wrong.
My iPad is also losing time. Not hours, but several minutes. Have to reset time manually; it surprises me that there seems to be no option for syncing the time automatically...
I haven't seen the problem now in a couple of days. It happened three times right after I got my iPad, but not since. One thing I did was connect to me.com and get a bunch of calendar events. I wonder if having no future timer events might allow the hardware to shut down or something (totally grasping at straws here).
Thats a good idea, but yes, the time on the Mac was correct. Also, the worse instance (losing several hours) occurred after turning it off Saturday night and back on Sunday morning. The time was correct before turning it off Saturday, and I just left it off (not charging). When I turned it on Sunday, it had lost the time. But it has kept perfect time since syncing with Me.com.
I've had no time issues with my 32GB model either ... can't understand why it would happen, but obviously it's an issue sporadically. I keep a watchful eye out and notice if anything happens time-wise on mine.
I just bought a 32 gig yesterday, and when i went to bed at 1137 I put it in sleep mode, when I got up this morning it still said 1137. I had to manually reset the time. It has been fine ever since??
Same problem here. I notice it every time I wake it up. I don't have a MobileMe account but I'm gonna just put a random event in the calendar to see if it effects it. Let you guys know if it works.
All of a sudden my iPad listed the time as exactly one hour earlier than it should be. I reset it to the proper time, then it reverted to the wrong time again.
I don't agree with the comment that you have a defective iPad. I'm betting that it's a software glitch, and will hopefully be fixed with the next upgrade.
Mine just started losing time tonight. I noticed it about 8 pm, it was about 5 minutes off. I corrected it. I just noticed it is about 30 minutes slow. There is plenty of battery.
