Unsent email message

My new iPad Mail program also says it has 4 unsent messages. When I click on the update logo, it goes through the process of sending those messages. Then, when it's done, it still says "4 unsent messages".

What really frustrates me is that I cannot find a way to read what those messages are. The regular OS X Mail program creates an Outbox to put messages in when it can't send them and those messages are readily available to read and edit and try to send again.

How can I see these unsent messages on my iPad Mail program?

Same problem with the unsent mail. Sometimes rebootting fixes it, other times not. Major pain in the butt to type a long note and have it sit there. I usually have to go to the outbox and delete them.

Exactly where is the "outbox" of the iPad's Mail app?

I'm pretty sure that the 4 outgoing messages stuck in limbo in my iPad Mail app have actually been sent. but I can't be totally sure until I can see them and compare them to the messages in my Sent folder

I got the same problem, it is as if emails containing attachments get blocked...
Annoying fact is that ones the email is in the outbox, you can not edit it anymore...

Please fix this asap Apple!

How do you know that the unsent email has an attachment? I know nothing at all about the 4 emails that my iPad says are unsent. Nothing at all. There is no way to access anything about them.

Does anyone know how to access these emails? Just to see the subject? I'm OK with not being able to edit them. Though I'd like to be able to see who they were addressed to, open them to copy their contents and then just paste the text into a new message that would probably work

How do I see the "Outbox"?
Using my Exchange account, you can see this when holding the iPad horizontally and scrolling through the folders...
Outbox is one of them...
Normally Outbox appears when something is "stuck". Otherwise it is invisible...

Attachments are indicated with a paper clip..

But I noticed something else, forwarding the email stuck in the outbox using my MobileMe account worked fine...

So not a straight repeatable question..

Ah! I don't go through an exchange server so I don't even have any access to those ghost messages. Not via MobileMe, either.

Had the same problem but once I did a hard reset the unsent email message was gone. Hard reset - hold down the power button and the home button simultaneously and slide to power off. Restart and unsent message notice should be gone.

we shouldn't have to reboot to send mail. I've seen this same behavior where an email won't send and the Ipad has to be reset. Sometimes that doesn't even fix it. Very frustrating.

I'm up to 8 "unsent" messages that seem to be sent over and over and over and over again but still remain. Did the restart. Nothing seems to help.

Are those messages really goofing out over and over and over and over again to the same people? No one has ever commented to me about repeat messages. Maybe they've never been sent at all!!

But in Mail, I have no idea what these messages are ornwhonthey.are addressed to!!

Ok. Now I just noticed 2 unsent messages have accumulated in my iPhone Mail app. This disease seems communicable.

Anyone else seeingnthis?

And the iPhone also does not have an "outbox" for unsent messages so that I have no ideanwhich ofnthe messages I have sent from the iPhone these are. Doubly maddening.

The top left corner of the screen indicates what mailbox you are in. If you tap it, another box appears with a "Mailboxes" button in the upper left corner. Tap this and and any mailbox containing mail will appear. Tap on the "Sent" button and your sent messages should appear. Click the "Edit" button and you should be able to delete your sent messages.

I say you should be able to , but I had to reset my IPad to make the sent messages I deleted actually get deleted. In addition, if I did not have any mail in my Inbox, the mail in the Sent box would always re-appear. So be sure you have at least one message in your Inbox.

If you are having problems getting your mail to send, try this. I got my email to finally send today after receiving message, my address was incorrect.

I made sure that my Server Port was the same in two different settings. Go into Settings for Mail, Contacts and Calendars. Select your Account at the top. Select Advanced at the bottom and record the Server Port number (110 in my case). Now, back up a screen and select your Outgoing mail server. In the new window select your Primary server. At the bottom of the screen is another Server Port value. This should be the same as the one you previously recorded. Mine wasn't, so I changed it. When I changed mine to be the same, everything worked fine. I am not sure why the Server Port exists in two different locations.

In my case, discovered that I had accidentally setup gmail both as an exchange account and a smtp account. Once I deleted the smtp account the unsent emails finally were delivered. I think I may have set iTunes to sync to Outlook on my computer when I didn't need to since mail would be pushed wirelessly.
