Keyboard touch sensitivity

This is more of a suggestion than anything. I wish there was a sensitivity setting for the soft keyboard. I love the typing on the iPad but i do accidentally "brush" keys which I think could be fixable with a sensitivity setting. I think there are APIs for this to detect how hard you hit the screen.

Is there a way to control this with the current stuff? I'm guessing no but figured I'd check.

Thanks!

Send the feedback to Apple using the link provided above...that's the way it would happen if at all...

Also, just a thought...if you're using this at home or at a desk while accidentally hitting keys... you may want to opt for the docking base with or without keyboard...

Myself... I got the dock with no keyboard and use my wireless Apple keyboard I have left over from a previous purchase... LOVE THAT SET UP!!

I never had this problem with the iphone but it seems quite obvious to me that e ipad needs a sesnsitivity control for typing. Im used to lightly resting my fingers in the keyboard....it helps prevent fatigue and helps keep track of where the keys are in relation to my fingers... Cant do this with the ipad, and its far to easy to hit errant keys.

I'm with the OP here. I purchased an iPad for my 5 year old son with autism. I have downloaded a number of fantastic programs, including "Proloquo2go" which is the app which convinced my wife and I to buy the iPad in the first place. My son has a fabulous vocabulary for his age but he is entirely non-verbal. The app is amazing but the keyboard is way too sensitive for my son who has no difficulty using a hard keyboard. He is constantly hitting keys by accident and this causes even more frustration for him. A sensitivity setting would be amazing and should really be implemented by Apple ASAP.

I have emailed the developer of "Proloquo2go" hoping that they will release an update which uses the API for keyboard sensitivity and am awaiting a response.

In the interim, though, please keep in mind that there are many users of this technology and those who don't see this as a problem, great for you, but don't assume that your experience is universal for all users out there.

I don't mean to sound condescending, but it's a touch screen -- if you don't want to type something, don't touch it. Give it time: the first few weeks with something new are when you get used to what you have to do to manipulate it. For instance, when I first got my iPhone, I was hitting the wrong "buttons" all the time, but now I can almost do it without looking.

Like you I don't want to start an argument but there are millions of people using the iPhone without difficulty and undoubtedly a few who have an issue. Its just that 'want/believe' doesnt mean Apple must do - if the chaps there think its worth doing such that it improves sales then I am sure they will do it. This far it hasn't been necessary, but maybe the iPad will be different !

Nobody has to do anything. That said, with the iPad this is a bigger issue than on the phone. Apple advertises how good the typing is and for the most part that's very true. There are improvements to be made. Apple doesn't do service releases of anything to increase sales. They do it because first, they have a commitment, like a company like Microsoft to improve products over time. Secondly they do it to increase customer sat.

Food for thought.

Either way, this is something I'm sure I and others would love to see. It would make an already good device even better.
