Can't enter text in certain forum dialog boxes (java?)

On certain forums and sites, I am unable to click on a dialog box and enter text. When I click in the box, it either highlights the line or the whole box but does not allow me to enter any text - the keyboard does not appear. I do not have an option to paste text either. The text/dialog boxes look similar to the one I am writing in right now. For my online classes, I use Moodle, and that's one of the sites that causes this issue. It was an issue also on my iPhone but I was hopeful that it would work differently on the iPad.

There are two methods I've found to enter text. One is through HTML and the second is unreliable -sometimes if I click in the box while I refresh, I can get the keyboard to pop up.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Java is enabled and I've tried clearing everything.

I Saw the same thing on Facebook once. Try refreshing and hope they patch it. Did you try landscape and portrait?

Unfortunately it's a consistent issue. Landscape/portrait does not seem to impact it but thanks for the suggestion.

Hi I'm having the same issue e and its getting to the point that i might put this amazing device on eBay for some. European with money. I'm at school online and i can't participate at all, I was hoping this would save me having to buy a full laptop and ebook reader!!!!!!!!!!

Easy to replicate at mail in comcast.net. I can sometimes paste in text, but most of the time I cannot reply. Tried various tricks without any success.

Ok so i have a work around!!!!! Disable java in safari settings and ll be able to post with no problems. The forum screen just won't have any fancy word processing functions like spellcheck.

Not perfect but a million times better than nothing!!!

It's not java, it is javascript.
They are totally different beasts.

According to what I read on another forum entry - to do with WYSIWYG editors - this is a problem with Safari. Apparently, it doesn't handle Javascript correctly in all cases. I administer Joomla sites and Safari on a standard machine, let alone an iPad, gives me a lot of grief. So, on any other machine I use Chrome or FireFox. Sadly, this isn't an option on an iPad. We're stuck with Safari - whether we like it or not!

No, you're not stuck with Safari. There are lots of other browers to choose from. I personally prefer iCab. Others include Atomic and 360. Search the App Store.

Yes, sorry, you're right. In fact I'd already tried Atomic by the time you replied. It was no better though. I'm trying to enter text into the JCE editor on Joomla, and I get exactly the same affect as czar4.
