I'm just wondering it may caused by the Mac OSX update version...why i say so, cause i c'ld not even restart my computer to install the update!!! what's appear after click on the restart button that the message shown for update, monitor became blue color on top and jerking snow leopard background on bottom...then, wait and wait...it c'ld not be restart at all...what i have to do is Forced Shut Down and Turn it on again!!!

before this, FCP just serve me right...but now...it isn't!!!

It's a bugs on New Update version of OS?

Besides, regarding to the link that you've provide. As you mentioned "Definitely not recommended for production use." So, shall i follow the steps? Will it really helps? Or I'm now have no choice but this? :P

Thanks

The "not recommended for production use" disclaimer was in regards to Color, as running it below the minimum requirements makes the interface really small. This doesn't affect you because your system DOES meet the requirements to run FCP - it's just that for some reason FCP isn't recognizing your VRAM.

But after you described what happened after the update, it sounds like it could be something more serious. I'd suggest applying this little hack to get FCP working but if you have other issues, you may want to consider reinstalling OS X.

I always hate having to hard reset my computer because I have had components fail on me in the past after doing this, so if a reinstall doesn't work, your graphics card may be physically damaged.

I'd say - see if you can get Final Cut Pro working to the extent that you can finish your project. As well as the aforementioned hack, consider the usual remedies such as repairing permissions in Disk Utility and running the maintenance tasks in a tool like Onyx.

If this doesn't work, do a full erase and install of your hard disk to reinstall OS X. If that still doesn't solve the issue, get in contact with Apple to have them take a look at your graphics card.

Perform those steps in that order. There's no need to jump the gun and assume it is a hardware fault when it may not be - that's a worse case scenario.

Thanks to Jon & Tom,

Alright, here you go...

~Snow Leopard-10.6.2
~2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo-Macbook Pro
~Memory-4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
~FCP 7.0.2 (Final Cut Studio)

BTW, i've done the Repair Permission but "• Final Cut Pro requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card." still appear everytime i launch FCP. And, it was a error message "iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme." while launching the iMovie.

In other words, Failed to launch the both iMovie & FCP.

In fact, the Installer was not with me now (leave home & office for 1 month of work), but project is rushing on, what shall i do?! huh...

Thanks for help!!!
