Is there a gesture to simulate double click in Safari?

I have a web app at work that requires double clicks in a browser to open content (digital asset management - Canto Cumulus). I was excited to come in to work & browse images, but viewing categories requires a double click on the category name, and obviously, all that does is zoom in/out the browser page!

Does anyone know if there's a way to simulate a double click in Safari? I've tried holding 2 fingers on the screen while double clicking with a third - combos like that - nothing works.

yeah I am starting to believe Safari doesn't recognize these items as true html links - this app's whole web UI is heavily scripted with javascript & stuff - even in IE on PC there is no indication of it having a link - I might be out of luck on this - I have contacted the developer to see if I can somehow get it to work with a single click
