Canon MF8350Cdn - All applications quit when printing

I ran Apple software update a few days ago & now I cannot print using my Canon laser printer. The printer is a Canon Color imageCLASS® MF8350Cdn. It worked fine before the software updates. Now, any application running will quit at the moment the canon driver is selected. I have trashed & re-downloaded & installed the correct driver with no results.

Anyone have any ideas?

If not, is there any way to find out what your last installed updates were? At least this way I could go back through until i find the issue.

Thanks

Have you tried opening Disk Utility and running Repair Disk Permissions? This procedure can often help after running any update.

Open System Preferences > Software Update. Under the tab Installed Software is a list of all the updates that have been performed on your Mac.

Thanks for posting the log. It shows that you are using a Canon driver that I have never seen before and I wonder where you got this from. According to the Canon web sites, the MF8000 series uses the Canon UFR2 driver, which creates a UFR2 folder in HD/Library/Printers/Canon. Your log shows that you are using a driver called CUPSCMFP that also resides in the Canon folder. Did you install the driver from a CD that came with the printer or did you download it from somewhere?

I suggest you delete this print queue that has been created with this driver and then trash the CUPSCMFP folder. Then you can install the UFR2 driver, which you can download from here.

Okay, well then maybe the UFR2 is conflicting with this CUPSCMFP, but the log would suggest that you are actually using this CUPSCMFP driver to print, not the UFR2 driver.

Can you open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon. I am expecting that you will see three folders (and possibly more). There will be the default BJPrinters folder, created by OS X. There will be the UFR2 folder and this CUPSCMFP. Is this the case?

Also, can you describe the procedure you followed to add the printer queue. Did you use the More Printers menu or simply select the printer from the Default Add Printer view?

Have you had any luck with this? You indicate that you downloaded the driver from the Canon site, but did you remove the printer and the installed software before reinstalling the driver?

1) Delete the print queue.
2) Uninstall the printer driver.
3) Install the printer driver.
4) Register the print queue.
