Today I got a new iPhone. Wanted to restore the backup I made from the previous iPhone (same OS version, same iTunes version) but receive the same error message:
"iTunes konnte das iPhone "name iPhone" nicht wiederherstellen, da ein unbekannter Fehler aufgetreten ist (-32)"
translation: "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "iPhone name" because an unknown error occurred (-32)"
PLEASE HELP! The are some data in this backup I haven't elsewhere (pictures, memos, voice-memos). Besides I don't want to configure everything again (would take me hours).
I haven't seen anything on that particular error, however looking at this Apple Support article about error codes http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275 the ones around it are hardware codes. If you try it again and it doesn't work, I would think about possibly making an appointment with Apple.
Thank you for the link to the alert messages. The same I got today from Apple. I went through all of the mentioned trouble shooting options without success
Another question in this respect:
My backup file has a size of 400MB. My iPhone (8GB) was nearly full (~500MB left) when I made the backup.
Is it possible, that the backup file is that small? Maybe this file is corrupt?
Same problem here.
I have an iPhone 3G (8GB) - almost full. When I synced it with my iMac it wouldn't do the backup, so I restored it. Now I want to restore the backup and I get this message "...error (-32)"
I've tried everything I'm told to do, but I still get the same error message.
I still can find my backups in: Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
