Playstation 3 controller pairing with the iPad

So as some of you may be aware, the PS3 controller can be paired with any mac computer no extra modification necessary as detailed in this youtube video.

I know it was a long shot, but I was hoping Apple would have kept the same already built in support for this with the iPad. Can't connect my controller to it however and I'm pretty sure Apple just decided to leave it out.

Does anyone know if perhaps an app will be coming to provide support for this, or if it is possible but just through some other pairing "ritual"?
