I am using the iPad to access the wiki, and it doesn't the iPad browser doesn't appear to give editing capability for wiki entries - - just viewing. This is the same as the iPhone.

What gives? Why limit the functionality? This makes zero sense.

MacBookPro 2.4GHz, Mac OS X (10.5)

Welcome to the Apple ultra-modern collaboration environment. I've talked to several people at Apple about this and get the "it wasn't setup to be edited from the iphone/ipod touch". Probably the same with the ipad. Very disappointing given the fact that wordpress can do it very well yet Apple, who owns the iphone/ipad and the server hardware and software can't do it.

I have a iPad 3G on order to view/edit Wikis. Are you saying the iPad is unable to edit wikis using Safari which are hosted on a Wiki2 server? (assume you have admin rights to the wiki)

This would be very disappointing. What happened to the "entire internet?"

I can confirm that iPad does NOT work with OS X Server wikis... Very disappointing!

If you want full editing functionality in iPad on the wiki (or any other site like Google Docs, etc), I would suggest filing a bug online requesting rich content editing in web pages on the iPad.

Just like a iPod HiFi can't charge iPhone. Are this products design from Apple ? OMG! I was thinking use iPad to work with my OS X Server wikis. Very disappointing!

You CAN edit if you set the browser to safari desktop (I use atomic web). This tricks the wiki server into thinking you are accessing it from something other than an iPhone or iPad. Of course, the resulting editor still doesn't work right because the iPad doesn't know how to handle certain text boxes (another rant), but you CAN edit using the HTML editor. Click that and edit to your hearts content. You know you want to.

On a serious note, I agree this is very disappointing. I am trying to convince my department to shift their website to apple server but this kind of face palm moments doesn't make it easy, although I do have faith that this will be fixed soon...

I started a blog last night, just to see how it works and maybe let my boss see what I am doing every day. Today I finished my lunch at Subway and thought I would use my iPad to blog the day so far, while eating my cookie. There was my blog page from yesterday, but with no controls to let me add a page. Was I blind? Was I stupid and unable to figure out how to add a page? No. Either my Apple iPad is unable to use an Apple web site or Apple web services software doesn't support Apple's own browser.

MacOS X 10.6.4 Server was installed a few days ago, so everything is at the latest version, and Apple hasn't fixed this?!? This should be a matter of embarrassment to Apple, like spelling one's own name incorrectly. It's something that just has to be fixed because it makes a person look so stupid.

    Has this been fixed?

I was considering getting an Ipad to edit and author wikis on my 10.6.4 server

You are right. Apple actually says on its web site that:

"As long as you have Internet access, you can view corporate websites, email, calendars, and contacts"

So you can only view, but not edit the content.
    Sorry, mates.

Is this something that is likely to change? Or is the issue more complicated than it seems?

Are there known workarounds? Apps, configuration settings?

It is ridiculous that this feature is missing. Without it we are not going to deploy Wikis or IPads.

One can only hope apple sorts this one out.

This is unbelievable but true. And makes absolutely no sense to me.

Welcome to the farce that is Mac Server!

I have learned the hard way not to speak to business or work folks about Apple Server. Apple have continuously embarrassed me and made me look like an idiot in the professional environment. This was just one more example of that.

"Come look at this WYSIWYG editing on the new Snow Leopard Server, it's awesome. I'll just show you on my iPad."

Question from boss: "So you can't edit an Apple server page from an Apple iPad?"

My boss wasn't being nasty. It was a fair question.

Apple need to sack a whole bunch of folks in their server team, starting at the top, and get rid of the "secret black arts" culture that exists there.
