What size to scan stills?

What size to scan stills?

I have a lot of family photos i want to scan and place into a FCE movie. Let's say i want to be able to zoom 50% into each pix. Can someone please help me with suggested size and/or dpi to scan the original photos?

I've found scanning stills at three or four times the resolution of your intended sequence generally yields quite good results.

Not sure what you mean by intended rez. I'm using standard definition. this what you mean? What size would that mean for me to scan?

If you intend to use a DV-NTSC sequence within FCE, which has a resolution of 720x480, then I'd recommend scanning at a size of somewhere between 2160x1440 and 2880x1920.
