when starting my power book, it hanged und began to spin. I booted from the installer cd, ran Disk Utillity- it haven't found the start up volume. I ran fsck, it reported "ioata controller blocking bus".
The hardware test from the CD reports a hard drive failure: 2STF/4/3:ATA-100ata-6-Master.

From time to time I am able to start the machine, but it works only for a few minutes and then hangs. Few hours later I am able to start again, also for a few minutes. It's as if it needs a time to cool out.

Is it really a hardware failure or does somebody know how to fix it?
thanks a lot in advance,

christian
