We found if you download a PDF viewer app through the App Store that you can then share the password protected document with iCloud Drive and then open it using the PDF Viewer app. I hope this helps, but I can't take credit a customer came up with the workaround.
Does anyone know how to view protected PDF?
Its months later and still no fix to this. But now, after I've purchased an iPad, University of Phoenix has posted a statement that protected pdfs cannot be downloaded to an iPad. Had I known that beforehand, I would have gotten a laptop instead.
Try using the read online option. You can do chapter by chapter.
Not all course material can be read online; for example, RES/342 course material is download only. But, I found the solution after combing the UoP PhoenixConnect threads. PDF Reader Pro ($9.99) has been updated and now reads protected pdf. This news saved my iPad, because I was definitely ready to put it up on eBay. The thing is wonderful...wonderful with its apple products, but incredibly imperfect with its failure to integrate with other companies.
Anyone using this app and how well does it work?
I am also a UOP student who was fustrated because i could not use my iPad to read my textbook that were password protected. I had purchased two other apps and they did not work. Per the prior post i purchased the PDF Reader Pro ($9.99) and I am very happy to say IT WORKS. :-)
Note: you are able to view the text using PDF Reader Pro but you will not be able to do any annotation such as highlighting :-(.
