How can I change WIFI router settings if I use hotspot WIFI?

Under those circumstances, Apple's fix is not a fix. They have to make it work under any WIFI network.

Apple’s solution to this problem goes as:

“If you encounter this issue, try the following:

Create separate WiFi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name.

Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.

Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on).

If the issue persists, reset your network settings using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.”

Who ever said I have had "the problem" in the first place ? Since my first mac in 1990 with the PowerBook 170 - System 7.5.5 I have been lucky enough to never have a problem with any of them (goes and finds a piece of wood to touch for luck). But then again I don't have any hardware around older than three years other than my XP PC which will go with me to my grave 😉

@Graham.You haven't got an Ipad, could you then do me the favour of getting one.Take it home,if you connect to the web,let me know the make of your modem/router,firmware,channel,authentication:WPA or WPA-2,WEP,AES,PSK or MAC filtering,multi-cast rate.In the meantime, thanks for your help, suggestions, but they really are quite useless due to the endless permutations of modem/router settings.
We really need help from someone who knows what they are talking about. Not someone piggy backing a thread/threads offering mostly condescending advice.
