No option to delete rented movie on iPad!

I rented a movie on my MBP via iTunes and synced it to my iPad. It ended up expiring and now I see that it is on my iPad, but there is no option to delete it. From iTunes, there is no option to sync or delete rented movies any more (the whole rental section of the Movie tab is GONE when I sync my iPad.

I un-synced all my movies, but that deleted other movies i had synced, not the rental!

What is going on here? I have nearly 2 GB eaten up with a movie I can't watch or remove!

Tried that. It has worked for non-rented movies but for some reason it will not work for rented movies. I ended up restoring my ipad. That got rid of it. The manual says rented movies are automatically deleted when they expire, there is no methodology given to manually remove them. I'm wondering if they define "expire" as 30 days after the download or at the end of the 24 hour period you have to watch it once you start watching it.

If you read the Movie Rentals Frequently Asked Questions in iTunes, it talks about all the points of how movie rentals are handled.

For example:
If you don't watch it in the 30-day period, it expires and disappears from your iTunes library.
You can delete a movie prior to the expiration date to make space on your device.
The movie automatically disappears from your iTunes library 24 hrs after you've begun viewing it.
Etc, etc.

While you're in the video app (main screen-with Movies | TV Shows | Podcasts | Music Videos across the top), all you have to do is tap and hold for 3 seconds and a little "x" will pop up...just like deleting apps.

That worked for me although no 'x' appeared but the movie self-destructed upon a 3-second hold all on its own.

I finally called Apple Support to get the answer to this question.

1st, make sure you are signed in on your computer under the Apple ID that purchased the movie.

2nd. Go into the summary page of your device on ITunes. Near the bottom you will see "options". In that section you will see "manually manage music and videos". Select that option.

3rd. Then go to the "On this Phone" click the RENTAL sub section under your device. This depends on the version of ITunes you are using.

4th. Right click the movie you want to delete. The popup box with the delete option should appear.

5th After it deletes (which will take quite a while) remember to go back into Options and uncheck the option for"manually manage music and videos". ℹ🙂

Didn't work for me...I held my finger on the movie for at least 3 seconds and all it did was make the icon darker for a second or two...no "X" appeared, and did not disappear. I tried swiping to the right which was mentioned in another post here and all that did was take me to the next screen to watch the movie, but the movie doesn't exist, cannot watch it or delete it. I'm up to FIVE movie icons in my rental area and none will go away.

I tried plugging iPad into computer, going to rental area to manually delete but none of these movies show up in there.

Totally frustrated....can anyone help?????
