Keeping mail on server

On my iPhone preferences, there is an option to keep mail on the server, but I can't find that option on the iPad. Am I missing something? I want mail to remain on the server so it can also be downloaded to my MacBook. How do I specify this?

looking further on my iPad, that other reply is correct but not for gmail.
I have a verizon.net email account also it does have in the advance section an option to keep on server.
But you are correct for the gmail account there is only the imap path.

I know very little about iMap but maybe when the ipad brought over my email accounts it switched us to iMap instead of POP?

If that is so how do we fix it?

I'm having the same issue...after I deleted my email on the Ipad I tried getting my mail on my laptop and it was gone...when I went to my POP account server I found that all of the emails I had left there had been deleted...very annoying.
I spoke with several tiers of tech support at Apple and they were clearly unaware of the problem and suggested I write online support...***!!
Anyway, I have done so and would suggest that everyone having this issue do the same. They said that a fix would probably be in the form of an update and would happen upon synching.

I wish I was having the issue. On my iPhone I had remove from server when removed from inbox. This would only work, however, if after I removed the item, I went to the account level and refreshed the account. (Check for New Mail) only then would it delete from the server.

I try that no, however it isn't deleting from the server anymore. So, I end up reading emails 3 times. I thought mobileMe would solve this, but apparently not.
