iTunes Quits on New macbook Air

I have a new Macbook Air, less than a week old. Suddenly iTunes will not open. It will begin to then "Unexpectedly Quits". I have thrown out preferences but it still will not open. Pleae advise.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Try rebuilding your LaunchServices database with OnyX.

Boot in Safe Mode (hold Shift key down) and see if it works there.

Run your hardware tester for an extended period of time. You may have a hardware issue with your RAM.

Also, make sure all external devices are disconnected.

It does open in safe mode but there is no sound.Volume control is locked.


OK, then it sounds like it is software-related. Do you remember installing anything lately just before this started happening? If so, try installing it. If that does not work, it's time for you to do a system reinstall.
