Yes, thanks Zukes, definitely. I also uninstalled iTunes and all related apps, and then re-installed. Didn't fix the problem. I went to Dell and updated the Chipset Drivers...no luck there either. I initially went to the Apple store, and when they saw all of the error messages, they decided to give me a new iPhone...but same problems started again. They said it must be a Microsoft issue. I am pretty good at troubleshooting, having been in the tech industry for 17 years, but this has been plaguing me for months now. I have tried so many things. Updated to Windows 7 Prof, then Ultimate...I am out of ideas. Open to suggestions..... 😕

This is a user forum. We try to help other users as best we can. Sometimes we just can't come up with the right answers. So don't judge Apple's support on what happens here. I can honestly say that I haven't had any dealings with Apple support, but I've heard about good as well as bad from users on this forum. Mostly good, though. As for "switching everything over to apple products", it's a decision only you can make. But let me say that the reason I've never dealt with Apple support is because I've never really had any problems with my iPad or IPhone.

It's absurd to not mention that the iPad 2 is not usable with iTunes on a Windows OS as a warning to potential buyers. So now I can't update the software or even add music/videos...fantastic 😟

I love the iPad in of itself but this incompatibility issue is crazy.

What I meant about support is that I've googled for an hour and searched Apples support pages and nothing addresses the issue...it's ignored almost completely.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm using a Windows 7 64bit Laptop with my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. Before updating to Windows 7, I was using Windows Vista 32bit with my iPhone. So at least some users are able to use iTunes on a PC running a Windows OS.

I just had this issue with my iPad 1. What worked for mine was this, After changing USB ports, turning my iPad off then on, I decided I was just going to close iTunes out and try again. I'm not sure how that fixed the issue but it did. I was completely surprised. I didn't expect it to work.

Has anyone had that happen? Is it just a temp. fix? I didn't restore anything on my iPad either.

Hi,

So using my first Apply device in my live and after a week I got this problem !

Well so far I have figured out, things has to do with that ITunes and the devices creates some locks while synch is active. all fine I think but I when you pull out the plug on some time or when your "laptop" goes into sleep for example the locks are not removed and later on you are unable to sync again. Well he nice product looks like windows 🙂 (says a happy windows user)

Ok Henry was actually putting my in the right direction. Below is some addional suggestions i had to do before things where again working. also this is in combination of iTunes for windows and a ipad2 device.

Steps:

  1. Download a copy of that diskaid. nice program anyway 🙂
  2. Connect your ipad2 and go the folder "Media"
You problay get a warning so click continue. You will enter the file system of the iPad
  3. At the most right screen you will find some files named:
    com.apple.dbaccess.lock
    com.apple.itdbprep.postprocess.lock
    com.apple.itunes.lock_sync
    com.apple.itunes.syncing
  4. Delete these above listed files as far you can find them !
  5. Now go the the folder itunes_control\iTunes
  6. Delete the files
    iTunesCDB
    iTunesLock
  7. disconnect you device
  8. Reset your device by holding the power en Home button for at least 10seconds.

You good to go 🙂

It also helps to remove rogue apps from your iPad. Bad apps can mess up your iPad and make it hard for you to connect to iTunes. When I had this problem It was hard for me to update or even connect to iTunes. I tried some solutions but still got more errors like (3194). It wasn't until I removed the Free Music Download app that everything went back to normal.
