Mac OS X 10.6.0 Download?

To make a long story short, I bought Mac OS X 10.6 the other day, and when I got home I found out my MacBookPro's optical drive is dead. I don't have the funds to fix it at the moment, is there any way I can purchase Mac OS X through apple, and have it downloaded? I spoke to someone at the Genius Bar, and they told me I had to purchase a physical copy, and use my iPod as a hard drive during the process. There HAS to be a simpler way, right?

There is not a download.
You can put it on an external drive--which they will likely do for you at the Genius Bar.
You can put it in another Mac and turn on remote disk sharing and install that way. See [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1777] and [here|http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2009012605560521&query=remot e disksharing].
