Can iPad be used with a stylus?

Can the iPad be used with a stylus for writing similar to a tablet PC?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Yes, but due to the captive touch design, a special stylus must be used, and will not be as exacting as a stylus used on a tablet computer that is wacom based. Those devices do not respond to touch though.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe so. If the screen is like the iPhone it uses a capacitive touchscreen and uses your fingertip to conduct electricity for it to work. So if your using gloves or a stylus, it won't work. I think thats how the trackpads on the MacBooks work as well. Again I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure this info is correct.

Yes. I got a pogo stylus by ten1 at my Apple Store. It seems to work well, but the tip is like a sponge.

Yes as stated...but why would you want one lol takes away from the whole design and enjoyment of using a finger to navigate

Why? The stylus isn't just for navigation, it's for drawing. Check out the Pogo Stylus, for example, and what folks have done with Sketchbook Pro or Layers. Kinda useful at the ski resort as well.

I have the Pogo for my iPhone, I also have a screen cover for the phone. I have to press REALLY hard to use the Pogo (I paint with Brushes App). So I am hoping the I won't have to press so hard on the iPad. Any insight?

I ordered a Pogo Stylus (still waiting on 3G iPad) for taking notes. I wish the built in notes app was Ink aware, but alas there are enough in the App store to make it worthwile.

I plan to use it to take notes in meetings and such and having a stylus to jot down quick notes or drawings just seemed to make sense.

Since these screens are not meant to be stylus navigated...the ones that do "work" are not that responsive in my opinion...that's all...
