convert 30fps to 24fps?

I'm currently editing 3 interviews that were shot with 2 cameras.

Problem is - one camera was set to reocrd 23.98fps and the other was set to record 30fps.

I'm editing in a 23.98fps timeline.

I need the audio tracks to match up -
anyone have a recommendation for the best way
to convert the 30fps clip to 23.98fps?

Compressor settings?

Thanks!

Depends on the cameras and the formats. You might have 30fps but it's just baked to look like 24 in which case you'd add the pulldown. Or maybe you'd remove the pulldown. Doesn'[t matter to me, I can't really help you but the other guys will ask you about your shooting format, editing settings, and expected output/delivery format so try to round up that information for us.

If there is much movement in your interviews, you will not be very happy with the results of your frame rate conversion.

Although I haven't yet worked with the 7D. My friends are all buying 7D's so it's just a matter of time.

What little I do know is I would transcode to ProRez using Canon's E1 L&T plug-in to ensure it conforms to Canon's colorspace. My understanding is that is the recommended workflow.

If you haven't already come accross this, then perhaps the conform retiming workflow described in the video tut may be helpful.

Haven't really looked into Twixtor, etc.

Don't know what your final out is or if you are linking to the Red files in Color, etc.

But would be curious to know what you end up using as your workflow.

At least you don't have 3k Red footage. 🙂.
