Macbooks for Students

does apple ever give free macbooks to students? I really need a new computer for my school. my pc recently broke due to its age. I wanted to know if apple gives free macbooks to students for education purposes. If not free macbooks, what about grants? i cannot afford a new computer or laptop right now because of our financial difficulty. I am currently using my friend's computer to ask this question. So, is there any way that apple gives free macbooks or grants to students?

Hello.
When I got my MacBook, I was able to get $100 off of it through the educator discount. You can view this link to learn more about it-
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/education_routing/
That should help you. You can also look up the school name. Another thing is that this is only offered to students in high school or college. If not a Mac, you can always try to settle for a computer such as a Dell, Toshiba, HP, etc.?
I hope that this helped.

Joey--

Apple will offer you $100 off of computers, if your school is listed in the education store. ( http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/findyourschool.) They generally are not in the habit of giving away computers to students; at the end of the day they are a business, and have these people called "stockholders" that want a return on their investment.

Giving away product-regardless of need or how noble the cause-eats into those returns.

Better start saving some cash up, and/or be prepared to spend some time in the school computer lab.

Sorry 'bout this--
