Question

Converting FROM VCD/SVCD to Quicktime/iDVD Compatible

(I'm not sure what forum this should go to)
Is there a way to convert from VCD to an iDVD compatible format? I have a vcd that i would like to include on my dvd. Are there any tools to do this?

The VCD format is MPEG-1 and QuickTime can play the file but not export the audio.
Download MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free). It can export your .DAT file to DV Stream (.dv) that can then be used in iMovie or go straight to iDVD.
The quality will not be very good because of the small dimensions of MPEG-1 format. It will resemble VHS quality.

Um, Problem. When i go to open the file in streamclip it says "File too Short". Why's that? The file is at least 10 minutes long.
Also, When I go to copy the file to the desktop It says i can't because some data can't be read or written (Error Code -36).

MPEG Streamclip will export the audio and video. QuickTime 7 Pro will only export the video.

OK, But how do I get Streamclip to work?
Could it have to do with the fact that it is burned on a black cd?

(XS)VCD format is different than most CDs and there is minimal error correction compared to data disks. Therefore you may have to use 3rd party apps to rip the material to the HD, and even then there may be problems.
