Restored, now emergency calls only

So, I was having software issues with my phone. I figured the best bet would be to restore the phone. Since I wasn't sure what the issue was I decided to restore as a new phone and reload everything manually. After restoring, now I can only make emergency calls. I thought that I might have to re-register my phone since it was seeing it as a new phone, but it's not giving me the option to register it. Any help would be appreciated.

PC, Windows XP

Where in the world are you located? Was the phone jailbroken to work on a network other than the one it was originally locked to?

The other possibility is after a Restore as New it must be in range of a cellular signal to activate.

I'm in the US. I have a standard (unjailbroken) iPhone with an AT&T sim card

After a Restore the phone must contact the carrier to be reactivated. Until this happens it will be in the mode you see. Usually this happens within seconds, but if you have a weak or no cellular signal it can be delayed. If you have a good signal try calling AT&T and have them reset your account.

Well, I swapped my sim card into a friend's iPhone and it received 5 bars and 3G within seconds. I put their sim card into my phone but it's still emergency calls only :/

As soon as I put either sim card into the phone, the phone popped up showing the IMEI and sim card numbers but it's still not working.

I am haveing the same problem, I did a reset all setting under setting on the Iphone then when it rebooted it was on the emergency calls only screen. I then tried to restore the phone and after it goes through the process it reboots back to th emergence calls only screen?

Someone plz help us

Same problem with my iphone, restore worked once - for about 1 day then same problem again. Took it into 2 different AT&T shops and both told me that it is a hardware problem and take it to Apple store...
