I saw another thread saying the 'brightness' setting if changed to manual and full from 'auto' solved the problem for some as the wi-fi connection is impacted as well when the unit comes out of 'sleep' mode.

What did fix the problem for me was switching from 64-bit WEP to 128-bit WEP encryption.
The senior tech had me reconfigure my router's security from WPA2 to WEP, however there wasn't any change. Factory settings definitely did the trick for me twice, although I know it has something to do with security, because I had no trouble with an open router.
I'll have to try the 128-bit WEP at home, I won't let my office off of WPA2 for more than the test I ran, nor will I change the office router's security for one toy.
