Safari stop playing embedded youtube videos

Hi
I am having trouble with Safari 4.0.5 (6531.22.7) which suddenly refuse to play embedded youtube videos. Safari show the video in a web page but when played the youtube default play display "an error occurred, please try again." and Safari display in the status bar "one error in opening the page, for more information, choose Window->Activity". Now when I look in the activity window it show "forbidden" beside the video file.
Strangely I can play the same video from the youtube main page without any errors.
I have already done the following:
- checked permissions with Disk Utility.
- Reset Safari
- Empty caches
- Removed com.apple.Safari.plist
- Uninstalled, re-Installed Flash plug-in

but the problem still persist. Help in resolving will be highly appreciated.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...

YouTube streams content using the Flash plugin ... Flash Player support on 64-bit operating systems

Since you are running Snow Leopard, *try running Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64*. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
bpageIcons.db to the Trash.*

FIXED - FIXED - FIXED!!!

Carolyn, many thanks!!! You made my day!!!

I have been unable to play youtube videos with Safari 4.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.3 for days. No problem with Firefox. Pages containing embedded videos showed with a white blank area or in the youtube itself, the movie area showed as black for a second and then left a white area.

THIS FIXED IT AS INDICATED BY CAROLYN:

My Safari does not run on 32 bit and Rosetta is not selected.
Quit Safari.
Move to the Desktop both com.apple.Safari.plist and com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
Open Safari again.

Wow, it now works!!!
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!

Hi
Yap it is now working 🙂
What I did was that, this time I removed:
com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist and folder in ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia
Now I don't know what is the right thing to remove bcos I removed all three at once. Anyhow i am glade to c it working again.

Thx every one 🙂

UPDATE:

The issue arose again. I now know why:

This time I just removed com.apple.Safari.plist and fixed the issue. But when customizing the Safari - Preferences - Security - Web content I found that if I uncheck "Enable Plug-ins", the issue arises.

You can easily see it in real time: go to Youtube and open any window. Then uncheck/check "Enable Plug-ins" and you will see the issue show/go in real time!

NOW ALL EXPLAINED!!!
