No, you won't lose any music. iTunes is simply a method for playing the music on your computer

You can remove and reinstall and upon doing so, you should be asked to specify where your music is, if in fact it is somewhere other than the standard place - ie

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxxx\My Documents\My Music

Not sure what happens to your image files though, in terms of cover art etc
You'll more than likely lose play counts also, if that's of concern

You shouldn't lose anything, but I strongly recommend that before you uninstall and reinstall you make a backup of the things you've purchased from the iTunes Store and any other content that would be difficult to replace, just in case something goes wrong.

What about saved artwork for covers etc? Are they all stored in a specific location or aligned to specific albums/tracks?

I'm having the excact same problem since I've upgraded to the latest version. What have you done to fix this problem ? I also had that same Quicktime message although I did uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it, but this did not work. Now when I try open iTunes or play music it tell me " *The file iTunes Library itl cannot be read because it was created my a newer version of iTunes"* ?? Any help on how to fix this. I cannot access iTunes at all.

Note, I don't use itunes for Windows. That said, artwork may be contained within the files themselves as tags, but itunes also keeps an artwork library along with all the other files in the music folder. As long as you are just replacing the program but not the folder contents then all should remain intact. This is all coordinated by the itunes library files which again should remain intact (along with play counts and ratings which are also in the library file).

If you read my first response, which I dont think you did, My problem started exactly the same way Twan19's did. Saying "QuickTime was not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again." The only differenc is I DID uninstall iTunes then reinstall iTunes and that is where that new msg in BOLD came from ??

It would seem that you installed an older version of iTunes than you previously had. If that is indeed the case, you'll be best served by starting a new thread to resolve that issue, and be more polite to the original poster; it's really difficult to try and address two different issues/people in a single thread.
