bellsouth.net e-mail settings

Aftera great deal of trial and error, reading internet posts, and reviewing outlook and Live Mail settings this is what worked on my IPad:

Undet Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars (of course)
Incoming
Host Name : pop.att.yahoo.com
User Name : UserName @bellsouth.net
Password: +your e-mail account password+

Outgoing
SMTP: mail.bellsouth.net
User NAme; leave blank or optional
Password: Leave blank or optional
SSL :OFF
Server Port 25

Under Advanved setting back at top level for Incoming server
SSL: ON
Server Port 995

Hope that helps others out there

It's kind of you to post those settings. It will probably help some folks out.
Please keep in mind that your settings for outgoing mail may not work when you are away from home. Lots of internet service providers block port 25.

i agree, thanks for the information, but it does not work for the outgoing mail. bellsouth has always been the hardest to set up even when i had my iphone. thanks again.

This does not work on mine. Bellsouth is awful. They've sold out to Yahoo and I've always hated Yahoo. I've never wanted to be associated with this terrible company as well. It's bad business to sell out your services to other providers because they "specialize" in that service. It always results in poor customer service. I'm going to GMAIL as soon as I can and dropping all Bellsouth/ATT services that I can. My iPhone unfortunately will still be with them until a better option comes around. Maybe Apple will pick up a cell service of their own! Now that would be good!

Add a yahoo account and just put in @bellsouth.com for username. It worked fine for me. Hope that helps if you all are still trying.

This worked for me with the following change:

Under Advanved setting back at top level for Incoming server

SSL: ON

Server Port 995

Had to set AUTHENTICATION to PASSWORD

I'm a new I Pad user as well with belsouth.net. Every time I try to respond to e mails I get a message "The sender address was rejected by the server" Does anyone have any ideas?
