Re-Arranging Icons

I know that when you want to move an icon around, you hold the icon until it begins to wiggle and then you slide it to where you want it. However, I've got some icons on page 2 which apparently refuse to be moved to page 1. I have the wiggle and I slide the icon to the left to try to position the icon on page 1, but it just bounces back to page 2. What am I doing wrong?

Own 5 PCs, Windows 7, Own 2 Touches which I love

Try moving them in iTunes with the iPad connected.

If you try to move it to another page too quickly, it will bounce back. Move just to the edge of the screen then move it slowly such that half of it's off the screen and hold it there a little bit and the other page should appear and you can move it onto that page.

Has anyone noticed that if you have all Screens filled with APP icons that once you start moving icons around that you can 'loose' an icon that gets 'pushed' onto the next page? Bottom line you can also add a few extra APPs that don't show up on the screens once you fill all the pages up before you get an error that there is no more room.

Bottom line there appears to be a problem on the iPad with ICON management and page wrap icon moves.

as a hint you can search for the missing ICON app name and still launch the APP.

I am a victim of this as well.
Unable to design the front page of icons as I see fit.

They wiggle but refuse to move to another page.

Just do it in iTunes if you are incapable of doing it correctly on the iPad.

here is watch worked for me.

I make the apps move then drag one down to the dock and then go back to the first page and remove from the dock to the page. this works for me.

It's the "slow" that is key. I though I was an idiot watching these things bounce back at me. If you throw it at the side of the screen it won't work...walk it over there about the pace you'd walk an old lady across the street and it should work. Still a little hinky at times, so then drag to the dock at the bottom, change screens and pull it back up, which is really just about as fast.

Thanks for the details on this. I too felt like a fool when the icons refused to move to the next screen. You do indeed have to be very slow and careful, and even then sometimes it doesn't work the first time. Certainly an area for improvement in the next iOS iteration!

I'm still on iTunes 10.4.1. Those features are grayed out in this version.

Mac Pro (late 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.8), 4 GB RAM, 2 500 GB WD RE3 HD, 20 in CinDisp, 2 TB TM, iPhone 3G
