Google is the default search engine in Safari, regardless of your homepage. However, you can either (A) save Google in your toolbar, or (B) if you have a favorites column, you can save it there.

Google is permanently set as the default search engine in the Safari toolbar.
The search box on your Yahoo page will always perform a Yahoo search.
You can change your homepage to Google by going to Safari-> Preferences-> General if you want to.
