Road Runner Ipad

Anyone figure out how to configure Ipad to read mail from a Time Warner Road Runner email account. Nothing seems to work.

Yes, My RR works OK. The servers are:

Read: pop-server.carolina.rr.com
Send: smtp-server.carolina.rr.com

If you're not in the Carolinas than the server name would change slightly. Check your pc mail account preferences to see.

The only problem I have is it will not send email to a xxx.me.com address.

Edit: sorry, typo in the Send server address.

🙂

This is because Road Runner (and some other providers) do not allow you to send (or reply) emails if you are logged in through another system. I had the same problem with a Samsung Omni when we had Staten Island Road Runner.
What you can do is use Safari to go to webmail.si.rr.com (well that was for Staten Island), log in there and do whatever you like.

You are correct about RoadRunner's refusal to send mail from a network outside your home but in my case I am on my home network and can't use RR to send mil from my account. I spoke to iPad's Senior Tech representative and he informed me that an update will fix this issue which is common to a lot of users of RR sending mail from their personal account.

From the Road Runner FAQ Website
The outgoing (SMTP) mail server address is:

smtp-server.socal.rr.com, smtp-server.roadrunner.com, OR smtp-server.ca.rr.com (i.e., your SMTP Server Name will have the same ending as your e-mail address)

The incoming (POP3) mail server address is:

pop-server.socal.rr.com, pop-server.roadrunner.com, OR pop-server.ca.rr.com (i.e., your POP Server Name will have the same ending as your e-mail address)

well, i called time warner and they did verify i had the right servers. pop-server.roadrunner.com and smtp-server.roadrunner.com

the problem is after you put those setting in and disable ssl, i get the following error message:

smtp server "smtp-server.roadrunner.com" doesn't support authentication. please check your account settings and try again.

what do i do now?

Also having trouble with RR e-mail...I can receive e-mail no problem with WIFI....when I send it I get error message "Cannot Send Mail - the connection to the outgoing server "smtp-server.cfl.rr.com" failed". The strange thing is when I turned off WIFI and used 3G the outgoing e-mail works!! So...WIFI I can receive e-mail but not send...with 3G I can send and not receive.....

Did you get this figured out? Purchased an iPad yesterday and get Roadrunner set up on Exchange. I know there is a pops and smpt server, but it only asks for one server during the setup. I used pops-server.socal.rr.com and received an error message that the "certificate" from the server could not be authenticated. Any thoughts? Time Warner was useless..
