Problem authorizing computer in iTunes

When I attempt to authorize computer in iTunes I am getting the follow error message:

+*There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.*+

+The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or reauthorize this computer if the permission cannot be changed.+

I'm using the following
Macbook (2.26Mhz Intel / 2GB Ram / 250GB Disk)
Mac OS X 10.6.3
iTunes 9.1 (79)

Here is what I have tried
Deauthorizing the computer (I get the same error message)

I have followed the instructions in this knowledge base article
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1277
(Basically verifying the permissions on the /User/Shared folder)

And I have removed and reinstalled iTunes.

I am at wits end... Any help would be appreciated.

I had also
+There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.+

My call to Apple support ended in check the permissions for the shared directory (they were OK) and re-install itunes on my brand new MacBook Pro, but without success.

Then I followed your advice.
In the shared folder there was a folder called "SC Info". Surprisingly, it was the first time I saw it and it doesn't appear on any other mac I have at home.
I changed the permission of this folder as follows
Wheel from Read Only to Read/Write
Everyone from Read Only to Read/Write
and now the problem is solved.

Many thanks
