Uploading from Canon T2i

I'm trying to upload video from my Canon T2i into IMovie. I have tried by connecting the camera and then by just inserting the flash card into the computers slot. Neither works. The IMovie tutorial says my clips should be instantly recognized and show on the screen for selection and import. Any help appreciated.

Hi; I have a Canon T2i also; I've used both a card reader and a direct connection (USB 2.0) cable to the camera. Both work, though in my case using the direct connection to the camera is many times faster than from the card reader. I'm using SanDisk Ultra 15MB/s SDHC cards. In the event you didn't think of it, have your camera powered on, and the top dial set to the "Movie" mode. Also, in your owner's manual, Canon specifies a Class 6 card, which is faster than many people traditionally use. I'd also warn against using a cheaper card; I've read on several A/V forums that people transmitting files using cheaper cards have often corrupted the data during the upload from camera to computer.

I've only had the camera for a week, but I've shot and sent to iPhoto both 1080p and 720p movies. Notice I said iPhoto, not iMovie. Once they are in iPhoto, you can use them by accessing them from the Event Library's "iPhoto Videos" entry in iMovie.
