Comments and Track Changes Support

Maybe apple doesnt want to put track changes because they dont want the ipad to cannibalize the ibook sales...

I am sorry. I do not get the connection between iBooks and track changes

I suggest that people try the recent app "CloudOn". My brief testing shows that this app has great promise in addressing our issue of track changes in MS Word. Primary limitation is that you must be connected to the Internet. Also, the developer notes that use of the app is "free for now".

Interesting, but two problems:

1. Not available outside the U.S. yet.

2. You have to use Word.

I am a lawyer too. I agree with all my friends who have posted here that this gadget is useless for professionals without track change feature. It is rather an expensive toy for kids to play games or surf net.. Apple must address this issue at the earliest. However, hope of getting a solution is very bleak now. First comment in this forum was made in 2010, we are already in 2012.. Even Steve is no more. IF nothing happened in two years ..nothing is expected further. I tried to sell this to few people when I realised I can't use it for my professional needs but there are no buyers. I think we all will have to move around with our laptops only.. Definitely ..I am not going to recommend this toy to anyone else unless some one needs it for playing games only. We the angrylawyers@£&#%^€

I am a lawyer to and even without track changes, do 98% of my traveling business with iPad. Even without track changes it is more than a toy.

BTW: One of the word processors for iPad does show tracked changes. There are apps that let you use the full word in the cloud, including tracked chanes. and I use logmein to use full Word as well.

And I sometimes ask that I be sent the redline in pdf and then use an iPad pdf annotation app to make comments.

More details of apps and how you use them would be helpful.

Is quite broad when I have 112 local apps and another 50 or so in iCloud, and when I use apps throuout the day. A "link" is not going to tell you how I use my apps.

I did refer to tablet legal.com, which archives some advice on using iPad in law practice.

In terms of absolute faithfulness to Word tracked changes and the ability to accept/reject and modify, I am now trying Cloudon app. If you receive a redline in iPad email, you can "open in" Cloudon. It works well, although requires internet connection and output is via Dropbox (they say they are working on direct email from App without going through Dropbox)

Might this (soon) be the answer to all our prayers?
