wired mouse tracking speed is slow

hi all;
i have a iMAC 24' with intel based, (Mac OS X 10.5.8) wired white mouse speed is avg. but i want more speed. i checked in preferences and set to fast but it is to too fast. when i use mouse i need to move my hand many time, so tired by this. please give me some solution as soon as possible.

One thing that I noticed in OS X 10.5 is that the mouse movement is not consistent. If you move the mouse slow then the curser will only cover a short distance and if you move the mouse fast it will move the curser a greater distance.

Here are a few things that you might try:

1. First try a different mouse pad, one that has a solid color with a dull finish.
2. Set the tracking speed to fast, then train your hand to move slow if you only need to move the curser a little and to move fast if you need to get all the way to the other side of the display.
3. If you have some knowledge of or use the Terminal, you also might try boosting the Mouse speed up to 5.0. or 6.0 following the instructions in the article below:
