Syncing errors

My iPod gives me the following error prompts when I attempt to sync, "The iPod cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device." After I click "OK" the following error prompt appears, "The iPod cannot be synced, the required disk could not be found." How do I correct this.

dell, Windows XP

Again, I'm having the same problem. My friend as well as my mom are having a problem with syncing. Mostly getting the same error:

"The iPod "iPod Touch" cannot be synced. And unknown error occured (-48)".

I uninstalled, removed iTunes folder, reinstalled, updated software, and resotred but still got errors while trying to sync. I also received an error trying to access the iTunes store via iTunes on my PC as well as on my iPod Touch:

"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occured (11556). Make sure your network connection is active and try again"

The the network was working at the time, I was online looking for solution to these iTunes errors but I did try again regardless, still did not work. While trying to sync some songs to test iTunes after unistall/reuinstall/update/restore, I then received this error:

"iTunes could not copy "song"to the iPod "iPod Touch" because an unknown error occured (0xE800400C)"

Then this right after:

"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod "iPod Touch" because one or more errors occured"

Below this error it says 2 total warnings

"iTunes could not copy "song" to the iPod "iPod Touch because"

and that's all that could be seen, the sentence cuts off.

Another error received was

"The iPod "iPod Touch" cannot be synced. An internal device error occured".

Hopefully waiting for answers and solutions... I hope that they will have a new iTunes version and and updated software that will fix everythin because this is getting out of control

Hi godking xerxes
I am getting the same unable to sync error -20 messages. I have been able to get around it only one way - temporarily uninstalled the virus/firewall software I am using, ran the sync and then reinstalled virus/firewall software. However although sync then works it only does so as long as I dont make any purchases from iTunes so having done so I am now back to error messages. Same problem on my iPod touch. I am running CA Vet virus/firewall software.

I was getting the same error -20(cannot write to the ipod unknown error occured)using Windows XP and couldnt transfer song to my ipod touch. I decided to remove my CA anti-virus and installed the free one from avast.com. BINGO my syncing problem went away. Now I can transfer songs to my ipod with no problems. Try removing your anti-virus and see if that helps.

I was having the exact same problem, errors, etc. I talked to a customer service tech expert on the phone and his diagnosis was that I was having a problem because my iPod had recently been replaced and restored at the genius bar at the apple store where they use mac computers but at home I was using Windows 7. I'm guessing since my itouch had been restored on a mac at the store it was set up to be compatable with the mac version of itunes and thats why it wasnt working on my windows computer. He recommended i restore my itouch on my own computer and so far it has fixed the problem for me. I hope this helps

I am having the EXACT same problem! I'm really getting annoyed with it.. it says "The iPod cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device" and then it says "The iPod cannot be synced, the required disk could not be found." Seriously why hasn't apple resolved this yet?! I have an iPod Touch 2g with 4.1 on it.. and it didn't start doing this until AFTER I updated it.

this is happening to me too, i just took my iPod touch, 8gb, to the Apple Store this morning after several attempts to restore my iPod from my computer and ending up with error messages. All they did was restore it at the store, i thought it was fixed, then i just got home to re-sync my iPod up to all my music and apps here. and it gives the exact same error messages as you! its completely aggravating! this just started happening after i updated the software on itunes and my ipod about a week ago...
