Wi-Fi iPad Issue SOLVED !

Well being one of the first to have an ipad and now on holiday out of the USA I thught I was pooched when I lost my wifi connection and could not get it back, and they do not support it yet here in Australia.

Sympton:
The wi-fi connection was there works on iPhone etc, but no internet (sound familiar). I tried EVERYTHING including a complete reset of network then 100% reset, losing all data etc. No use.

Then I found the answer for me at least ... go to the wifi setting you have that works (but no internet). Swipe on it, bring up all the settings.
Change http proxy from (default) off to Auto. Job done

I have spoken to 10 others that this has now worked for ... good luck if it works or not let me know

hi
This is interesting I have spoken to folks with it working and others with the same problem ALL the folks with the problem had it in off mode, but others have had it in default in Auto mode and not problems

Is it possible it was a config. issue on some not all pads.
Don't understand the proxy aspect well enough
Perhaps some folks need it off others do not, this would explain the randomness.

There seems to be more then one wifi problem. I've identified these different issues from various posts

a) weak wifi signal problem
b) wifi doesn't reconnect after sleep mode
c) loss of connectivity even though the signal and connection looks fine
d) intermittent on/off connectivity while browsing
e) persistent connectivity loss with username/password prompt request

What bothers me most about all these issues is Apple is be completely silent on this problem and letting their loyal customers get very upset. The loyal customers are the ones who will always buy Apple and buy the 1st version. Leaving them hang out to dry with silly excuses and remedies is not a good business model. Wait until the iPad is released in Europe next month. The second wave of complaints is about to hit. Another black eye. Perhaps Apple should focus on fixing this problem yesterday, and not focus on the new OS for the iPhone. Otherwise, the iPad will just be a one version run and their stock will plummet.

You are correct. These are all separate issues. They may somehow be related but not necessarily. I look forward to hearing from Apple as to how these will be addressed.
